课程简介

本课程为英语专业学生必修课程，包括《英国社会与文化》和《美国社会与文化》两门课程，分别开设于第三学期和第五学期。授课对象为英语专业二年级和三年级学生，采用小班制教学，每个班级人数在30人以内，授课对象400人左右。经过一至两年的基础阶段学习后，学生在掌握了一定程度的英语技能的基础上，本课程以基于内容教学的理念，以英美国家社会与文化为载体，以知识、能力、情感为目标，以讲授、讨论、研究展示为形式，多方面提高学生的语言能力、文化意识和批判思维精神。同时，本课程还是面向全校各专业开设的英语辅修专业核心课程，服务全校各学院各专业的同学，增进他们对于英美国家社会文化的了解。

本课程预期受众的定位与目标：英语专业学生，帮助他们全面了解和掌握英语语言和文化，提高跨文化交际的能力；非英语专业学生，培育具有广博的世界观及有修养与识见的文化人；广大英美文化爱好者，普及英美国家的社会和文化知识。

本课程得到学生高度评价，多年以来课程主讲教师的评教分数均在90分以上，学生课程一次通过率98%以上。学生普遍反映本课程内容丰富，信息量大。通过课程的学习，不仅了解了英美社会的基本知识，还扩展了相关的语言知识，提升了语言技能。
