Veterinary Parasitology is a compulsory and core course of the Veterinary Medicine, Animal and Plant Quarantine and other related majors. This course is mainly composed two parts: one is the introduction about the morphology, classifications, biology and ecology of various ectoparasites and endoparasites of domestic and wild animals, and another is the delivery knowledge of the epidemiology, clinical symptoms, pathogenesis, immunology, diagnosis, prevention and treatment technology of parasitic diseases. The parasitic disease is one of the national statutory animal diseases and its learning also constructs one of examination contents of the National Veterinary Licensing Examination. Moreover, Veterinary Parasitology is the essential knowledge for undergraduates whose major is Veterinary Medicine, because their studying will contribute to animal health breeding and prevention and control of animal parasitic diseases in future careers, also such major knowledge and skills are necessary for licensed veterinarian so that they can better guide animal husbandry production, human health and promotion of public health, etc.
